Eco-Friendly Christmas Gift Ideas For Everyone On Your List

by Anna Godefroy

Even if you are the most environmentally conscious shopper who hasn’t touched a plastic bag in years, Christmas gifting time can throw your efforts out of whack. The sheer volume of people on your list can make it a very difficult task to find eco-friendly gift options that don’t break your bank account.

I have created an affordable sustainable Christmas gift guide to inspire you to shop from local and independent creators and brands. Of course, Laurence bags and hoodies are included in the list as well! Scroll down to get inspired.

How To Find The Perfect Ethical Gift

First of all, you need to know where to look. For the ease of it, you are most likely tempted to start ordering on Amazon, right? Not only it is not a sustainable way of shopping, chances are you will end up with a pile of very unoriginal packages.

I suggest starting with outlets like Not On The High Street and Etsy. You can find a lot of unique pieces of interior decor, wellbeing, fashion and kids that are handcrafted by independent brand owners in small batches.

Gifts For Mum

You can never go wrong with an at-home SPA hamper. Pair wonderful handmade soaps from Chalke Valley Soaps with beautiful hand-poured vegan candles from Perfect Chaos and body care from Made by Coopers and you are onto a winner. Bonus points, not only all products are handcrafted by brand founders, they are all made here in the UK.

A gift of relaxation and rest is perfect for our hardworking mothers. If you are looking for experiential gifts, how about a Gong class or a yoga membership

Gifts For Dad

Unless your dad has a cool hobby, he can be tricky to shop for especially if he’s the silent type. A sustainable take on grooming kits is always a good idea and Etsy has plenty of options for you to choose from.

Another idea would be to gift him an experience you could enjoy together. So how about membership at a local gallery? Whitechapel Gallery has plenty of exhibitions you could attend throughout the year. Or if music is his art of choice, how about learning how to DJ together?

Gifts For Brothers, Sisters and Friends

Reusable cups and water bottles are not exactly the most original idea but they are a practical one. Especially if it’s a trendy choice! How about one of the beautifully coloured S’well bottles for a little sister? Or a reusable coffee cup from rCup made of recycled single-use paper cups?! Ingenious! And a perfect gift for a coffee-loving friend.

If your siblings or friends are still at school or live a busy life on-the-run, look no further. Laurence backpack is certainly something they will thank you for! Not only it is super practical with zip pockets for all their essentials, it also is made of recycled polyester and features a print designed by me.

Gifts For Grandpas

You can never go wrong with a gourmet basket of locally produced jams, crackers and cheeses. There are some mouth-watering selections on The Chocolate Gift Company or The Sweet Reason. There’s nothing quite as special as an afternoon tea at grandma's, right?

Gifts For Her / Him

Athleisure fashion has never been as popular as this year so a soft hoodie is a must-have. Whether it’s for Christmas day walks in the countryside or for a cosy night in, a simple pullover is an irreplaceable item. Laurence ones offer you a little twist on the classic hoodie. They are made of a mix of organic cotton and recycled polyester and feature one of my original prints. Easy to wear and style with a pair of jeans and boots, why don’t you get a matching one for yourself?
